Being a licensed Practical Nurse can be a rewarding job. Someone who wants to have an LPN education will have to finish secondary school or pas the General Education Development (GED) tests before he can enroll in an LPN program. Most LPN programs will require their students to complete at least a year of practical training at a clinic or a hospital. After one graduates from the program, he will need to take and pass the licensure examination given by the state. The examination will differ from state to state. One can get an LPN degree from local colleges or through online lpn programs. The latter provides flexible class hours which is appealing to those students or are working or are busy during the day. Online students are taught the same thing as those who personally go to the school and both are required to obtain hands on clinical or hospital experience. LPN programs usually include the major sciences like biology, and chemistry, physical education, first aid, nutrition, child growth and psychology.
When one finishes an LPN course and is able to pass the NCLEX-PN examination in order to get a license, he will be able to have different career choices. He can choose to practice his knowledge at community clinics, mental institutions, nursing homes, and private hospitals. He can also choose to work either part-time or full time. A person who became an LPN by taking one of the lpn programs online can give the same services as those who went to the local college. He is able to carry out the basic hospital duties like giving first aid, aiding in child birth, administering medicine intake, and many more. Furthermore, he can also choose to continue his education and be an RNP.
