Cricket originated in England and was accounted to be a children’s game before it was played by adults in the early 17th century until the present. Today it is also popular in countries like Australia, Bangladesh, India and many more. Besides being known for its unique game rules, it is also famous for its many difficult cricket terms which is only understandable for cricket enthusiasts and professionals. Some of the terms that a newbie should know are bowling, batting, wicket, duck, run-out and etc… Bowling refers to the act of pitching the ball from the other end of the pitch towards the batsman. Batting is the act of hitting the ball thrown by the bowler. The wicket on the other hand, refers to the bails and stumps on the opposite ends of the pitch which the fielders try to knockdown before the batsmen running towards it cross the crease. If the fielders are successful, then the batsman is run-out.
